The problem

Engineers needed to compare sounds using loudness, sharpness, roughness, and tonality without losing the signal context.

My contribution

  1. 01

Helped turn specialist psychoacoustic analysis into a guided metric-comparison workflow.

  2. 02

Connected metric results to the compared signals.

  3. 03

Made differences between sounds easier to inspect without losing the underlying signal context.

Technical approach

  1. 01

Group metrics around a step-by-step comparison.

  2. 02

Keep the source signals visible beside metric results.

  3. 03

Refine terminology and ordering with specialist feedback.

How I checked it

  1. 01

Observed whether users could identify differences between sounds.

  2. 02

Checked metric labels and conclusions against the available evidence.

  3. 03

Used feedback to simplify confusing steps.
